documentary research

Alot of things inspired me when coming to create a documentary however it was from other areas, beside documentary, that caught my attention. I have recently read a lot about our environment and alternative reasons than global warming ie. sunspots/natural cycles etc. I have also been inspired by stories regarding social structure in different countries and how incredible stories and situations can arise. One story like this is of a small brazilian girl who looks after her brother addicted to oxi(highly addictive, cheap, cocain by-product) and her fight for survival.~similar story-(http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/may/30/oxi-crack-cocaine-south-america). I have always been interested in social structure and the way it is made up, varying from culture to culture. For this reason i originally intended to make a documentary about Qatar's hugely intrinsic social structure. However this idea was far to advanced to cover in a 5 minute, one man university documentary due to reasons of security, planning, funding and production. My second idea of mapping Qatars history,or lack of it, also fell afowl due to Qatars high security and poor camera quality. This left me to make my final idea of a documentary covering freeganism.
